How to Manually Add your Developer's API Key

Summary: If you have created a FeedSweep widget without a Developer API key, you can manually add the key to your FeedSweep widget query string.

This article is only relevant if:

  • You have created a FeedSweep widget prior to the implementation  of requiring Developer API Key
  • You were not signed in when you created your FeedSweep widget

Usually your Developer Key is automatically added to the parameters of any FeedSweep widget you created, provided you are signed in.

First off, check and make sure there is no Key parameter in your widget query string. It would typically look like this:

<!-- FeedSweep Version XX.XX -->
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://www.feedsweep.com/products/feedsweep/producer.aspx?feeds
=http%3a%2f%2frss.news.yahoo.com%2frss%2fus">
</script>
<!-- FeedSweep -->

Then add your Key parameter at the end of your widget query string, making sure to proceed it with a "&" (no ditto marks included):

<!-- FeedSweep Version XX.XX -->
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://www.feedsweep.com/products/feedsweep/producer.aspx?feeds
=http%3a%2f%2frss.news.yahoo.com%2frss%2fus
&amp;key=f2hpju5bJU6Ztswngul5aQ">
</script>
<!-- FeedSweep -->

Note the bolded text.

You can copy your Developer API Key from your Account Summary page, once you have signed in.
